Celebrating 20 Years

As we look at the end of another great season, we reflect back on what an epic winter it was. There was no better way to celebrate 20 years as a company than to do it with over 15 feet of incredible snowpack and an awesome guest list!

It was hard to go wrong with a solid snowpack that reached 170% of normal in our area of the Province. That, combined with good weather, allowed us to ski runs that we don’t normally get to visit every year – runs like Bella Luna, Walter James, Dividend, Campagnelli, and Incisor. We were also able to explore, finding a dozen new runs to put on the map.

We thank all of our guests, both new and returning, for making this season, like the 19 seasons before, so amazing. Sometimes we just feel like we’ve won the lottery in being able to be involved in such an incredible sport and to share these special mountains with people who truly appreciate and understand the gifts that the mountains give us.

Mark and I have a deep passion for what we do, and we’re very thankful to still be here today. Skiing also plays a large part in how Mark and I met. Today, we still greatly enjoy catering to heli-skiers and heli boarders, particularly those who are as passionate about the sport as we are. We hope you enjoy our tenth and final video, which will show you how the Crescent Spur Heli-Skiing dream began. (Be prepared to revisit the fluorescent eighties!)

There Can Be Only One

Over the past few months, we’ve had a lot of fun looking at all of the eye-watering, cheek-reddening, excruciatingly embarrassing moments that have been submitted to our Shame for Gain contest. (Incidentally, who knew nude skiing had become so popular?)

Well, all good things have to come to an end and, sadly, so does Shame for Gain. We’ve tallied the votes, and are thrilled to announce your choice for the winner! Boasting a rather remarkable 645 thumbs up, UK-based Ryan Davison walks away with the loot—congratulations Ryan! (His winning entry: The Three Stages of the Skier)

Ryan will be joining us at Crescent Spur next season, for 6 days and 7 nights of incredible heli-skiing, cozy accommodations, and delicious meals. You have to admire his tenacity, as winning was no easy feat! Over the past few days, two entries battled head-to-head for the top spot. Kane Hooson of Australia came in with an equally impressive 479 votes for his entry, Slide of Shame. Nicely done Kane! Given how close the race was, we’ll be sending you one of our own Crescent Spur jackets in appreciation of your efforts.

Speaking from experience, an intense day of heliskiing or heli-boarding can really work up an appetite. We think it’s important to fuel up on delicious and healthy food, so we choose to use lots of fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in our cooking. It’s not always easy for our chefs to cook for twenty skiers, but they eagerly accept the challenge! If you’re ready to whet your appetite, take a look at our ninth video.

Do you think that you have to be under 30, male, with a penchant for hucking off cliffs before you will enjoy heli-skiing? The fact is, heli-skiing is an expensive sport and few individuals that age can afford this incredible experience. And yet, the myth persists.

We celebrated International Women’s Day by posting this video of four ‘over 60’ women who love to ski and don’t let age or stereotypes hold them back. You may not see them hucking off cliffs, but rather just enjoying the thrill of wilderness, camaraderie, snow and the rhythm of turn after turn after turn. The World’s Most Deluxe Ski Lift

Our state-of-the-art Bell 205 helicopter is a thing of beauty, boasting incredible lifting capacity as it carries our guests off to incredible heli skiing in the Cariboo and Rocky Mountains.
