Things to review, Now that you’ve booked your heliskiing vacation.

On this page you'll find information about our heliski lodge, how to get here, what a typical heli-ski day is like, as well as other useful tips.

A Typical Ski Day

Morning: Early risers begin at 6:45 with a stretch class (optional). This is followed by a hearty breakfast and update from our guides on weather and ski conditions at 7:30. Between 8:45 and 9:00 we congregate at the helicopter and head out for our day of heli-skiing and heli boarding. (Please note that your first day of heliskiing will start a little later, in order to complete your transceiver training and helicopter orientation.)

Lunchtime: Once we’ve worked up a bit of an appetite, we park somewhere for a mountain picnic. This is a nice time to give one’s muscles a bit of a break, while taking in the spectacular views. (Oh, yes, and we’ll enjoy some sandwiches, soup, goodies, fruit, chocolate, and hot tea.)

Après ski: Guests returning to the lodge are welcomed with an array of tasty appetizers and cold beer that pair perfectly with a soak in the hot tub. Here guests share stories and reflect on the fun of the day.

Dinner: Our evening meal represents a special time, in which everyone sits down together in our family-style dining room for what one might consider a feast. Chef Greg treats us to healthy, local, and delicious meals that you’re quite likely to brag about upon returning home. Read more about dining at Crescent Spur.

Evening activities: Although one might think you’d be tired by this point, most of our guests like to “play” in the evenings as well. Sometimes this is with a game of pool, for others, it’s a fine scotch at the bar. Some just like to have a little quiet time with a book. Learn more about our after hours activities.

Getting Fit

Heli-skiing and heli boarding is most enjoyable when you are fit. Plan to start a fitness program that includes stretching and aerobic exercises 8 to 10 weeks prior to your arrival. You can find some other helpful tips on conditioning on the Skills page.

What to Bring

We recommend a two-piece powder suit shell (with layering of thinner undergarments), warm gloves or mitts, and a helmet or warm hat. (Don't forget high quality goggles and sunglasses.) Our retail shop has a selection of undergarments, Arcteryx outerwear, goggles, glasses, and powder gloves and mitts. We strongly suggest that you take your ski boots on the plane as carry on luggage. We will provide you with specialized powder skis and poles. (We do not provide snowboards or telemark skis.) Après ski attire is casual. And don't forget your bathing suit for the hot tub. For more details on what to bring, see the Recommended Gear page.

Get Here

Most guests fly to Prince George, which houses our nearest airport. Both Air Canada and WestJet provide daily nonstop service from Vancouver International Airport. PLEASE CALL OUR OFFICE BEFORE BOOKING YOUR FLIGHTS. We generally ask that guests arrive at the Prince George airport in the early afternoon, and book their departing flight for the morning of their outgoing day. For more details, see the Travelling to Crescent Spur page.

Cancellations & Insurance

For your convenience, we offer cancellation insurance and Medical and Emergency Evacuation insurance as an add-on to the package price. It will be offered at the time of final payment and is an easy way to remove the extra step of having to find your own insurance. If, however, you truly want to take a chance and not insure, you can opt out. In this case you are not covered, and NO refund will be issued should you be unable to take your holiday with us, or if your holiday is interrupted due to injury (or any other cause that would have otherwise been covered by the insurance company). Further, you will be responsible for the added helicopter cost of an emergency evacuation from the mountains to our lodge or nearest medical facility, should an injury require this evacuation. You may, of course, purchase your own insurance. If you choose against us purchasing coverage on your behalf, you will be charged the final payment amount without the insurance cost.

Balance of Payment

The balance of your payment is due 16 weeks prior to your arrival date. For your convenience, we will send you a reminder 4 weeks prior to the due date. Please allow 2 weeks for postal time. Your reservation cannot be confirmed until we receive your final payment. Payments not received by the due date will result in your space being cancelled.

Refund for Unused Vertical

We do not refund for days not skied. If, due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdown, you do not reach your minimum guarantee, you will be refunded at the rate of $31/1,000 vertical feet. Refunds are based on the un-skied footage of the group who has skied the most during the week. We do not refund for un-skied footage if you choose to finish a day early, or, if lack of fitness or ability curtails your ability to ski the amount of vertical. Read more details on the Unused Vertical and Refunds page.
